Do I need a piston compressor - Is this the correct compressor for me?

Do I need a piston compressors? This is a question we hear daily here at The Compressor Warehouse.
Well basically the answer lies in what you intend to use the air for, as an example if you require air to do various home or small workshop projects then this application may be adequate and therefore you just need to work out the size of the piston compressor you require.
Generally speaking piston compressors are suitable for small compressed air requirements such as nail guns, where the air use is short and sharp allowing the compressor to re charge the air faster than the out going supply is exhausted. If you intend on using a spray gun or rotary air tool for continuous long periods of the day then you may be better suited to an Industrial screw compressor.
Operation should be intermittent. An air-cooled piston compressor’s load level should not exceed 60-70% unlike industrial screw compressors. After 2 minutes of compression, a piston compressor must rest for at least 1.5 minutes. We recommend keeping the total compression time per day to approximately 4 hours.
Piston or reciprocating compressors are found in almost all types of industry but are considered common place within the following trades:
- Auto Repair Shops
- Printing Shops
- Wood Carpentry Manufacturers
